Music Technology

Music technology is a class for those students who want to learn more about the music production process, and is open to all students grades 9-12, regardless of their musical knowledge. Students will learn how to record, manipulate, create, and appreciate music on a different level.

Programs used include but are not limited to: Soundtrap, Audacity, Soundation, iMovie and Garageband. All programs are provided by the school and do not require purchase by the student.

Introduction to Music Theory

Introduction to Music Theory is open to all students grades 9-12 who want to learn more about how to read, perform, and understand a little bit more about the history of music as we know it to be. Students will learn to read notes on the staff, read rhythms, identify scales and chords by ear, and much more.

This course is a prerequisite course for Music Technology Independent Study and AP Music Theory.

Music Tech -
Independent Study

This course is for students who want to spend more time diving deeper into one of the aspects of Music Technology. Students work with their instructor to develop a curriculum for semester, one designed to meet the wants and needs of the student.

Prerequisites: Music Technology and Intro to Music Theory

AP Music Theory

AP Music Theory is open to students in grade 10-12 who wish to further their musical education. Although most who take this course have a desire to study music in college, it is for all who wish to learn more about composition and analysis of music.

The AP Music Theory Exam is given in early May each year. This is optional for all students enrolled in AP Music Theory.

Prerequisite: Intro to Music Theory
